Training Courses


The Basics of the Equality Act
Date: 7th Feb
Location: Cardiff, £85 (1 day)

This course will provide you with an understanding of your main obligations under the Equality Act 2010.  It includes: who is covered; direct and indirect discrimination; discrimination by association or perception; harassment and victimisation; reasonable adjustments; genuine occupational requirements; case studies and opportunities to ask questions about the Act.

Mental Health First Aid 14th
Date: 15th Feb
Location: Cardiff £110 (2 days) 

This course follows the internationally recognised evidence based Mental Health First Aid Course as licensed by the Welsh Assembly Government. Participants will be issued with a comprehensive manual and on completing the 2 days will be issued with a certificate, endorsed by the Welsh Assembly, Health Challenge Wales and Mind Cymru


An Introduction to the Mental Capacity Act
Date: 24th Feb
Location: Cardiff, £50 (half day)

This course will assist all staff and volunteers involved in the provision of support, advice and advocacy services. It focuses upon what you need to know when supporting people to make decisions especially in the areas of treatment, accommodation and money. It includes case studies, the 5 principles of the Act and understanding what is meant by ‘capacity’ 


The Equality Act (Employment)
Date: 2nd March
Location: Cardiff, £85 (1 day)

This course will help you to understand your obligations as an employer or worker under the Equality Act 2010. It explains: who is covered (‘protected characteristics’); employers’ and workers’ responsibilities and liabilities; types of unlawful discrimination; direct and indirect discrimination; discrimination by association or perception; harassment and victimisation; discrimination arising from disability and reasonable adjustments; positive action and when discrimination is allowed (including occupational requirements). During the course there will be opportunities for you to ask questions about the law and to examine case studies.


BME Mental Health Awareness
Date: 5th March
Location: Cardiff, £50 (half day)

This course is particularly relevant for health practitioners and community service providers from the public, private or voluntary sectors.  It provides a basic introduction to mental health and distress and focuses on raising awareness of issues, such as cultural and religious issues, facing people from the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities with mental health issues and examines the reasons for disproportionate BME referrals and detention. 


Mental Health First Aid 15th
Date: 15th - 16th March
Location: Cardiff, £110 (2 days)

This course provides an introduction to mental health and distress. The course is intended to improve your understanding and knowledge and aims to reduce stigma and discrimination.  It covers: mental health and emotional distress; stigma; depression; suicide; anxiety disorders; self harm; psychotic disorders and recovery.
